New knits

Keeping myself busy during Easter break knitting cosy hot water bottle covers, small children's scarves and sewing bunnies.

Spring Inspiration

Happy that Spring has finally arrived, I always look forward to seeing the pastel colours of the blossoms, the smell of fresh rain and walks in the forest when the bluebells show. Perfect days!

Helping Age UK

During Autumn in 2013 I joined in with the Big Knit for Innocent Smoothie drinks, to help donate money to the charity Age UK. I hand knitted a little collection of tiny cotton hats with pompoms...

I sat in coffee shops on windy Autumnal days, drinking lots of tea whilst making these, lovely!

After these I decided to try intarsia knitting. There is a great pattern in Kirstie Allsopp's Homemade Home book that I am attempting, her programmes and books are amazing.

A couple of past projects

Last year I started to produce cushions and scarves in Z Hinchliffe's lambswool yarn. I love felting this after knitting, the fabric becomes much more softer and stronger, and very cosy.

(I think I may have a slight obsession with this colour!)

This is the reverse of my polka dot pattern, the wrong side of knitting is sometimes more visually appealing than the front!

Wool House at Somerset House

Today I visited the Campaign For Wool's amazing exhibition Wool House. It is probably one of the best exhibitions I have been to recently, there are artisans showcasing their work and demonstrating techniques, installations, interiors, fashion and crafts. Wonderful stuff!

Friday 1 March 2013

hello!

It's my first post!
My name is Jade Drew and I'm a graduate from Chelsea University in London and studied textile design, I specialised in knit and since then I have loved to create knitted homeware and accessories.
This blog is a place for me to share what I love and show you what I'm working on.

This is some of my work that I produced at Chelsea.
At the moment I am currently working on starting a collection of felted lambswool cushions, scarves and other accessories. Photos will be on here soon!
